"I remember going to Palm Springs as a kid – there were movie stars there who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax and play golf. It's crazy there now – now there's smog. It's simply not the Palm Springs it was created for. We are the new Palm Springs, and we also have the Colorado River and Lake Mohave." – Keri Stewart, GM, El Rio Country Club
You only have one life to live. So why not make your life the best it can be, and choose a place that will provide compelling stories for your family to remember forever? Once you get past our awesome 360 degree views of mountain ranges, the mighty Colorado River and its wonder, our unique history, and the diversity of Mohave County, you'll find a community robust with unique and diverse people, and with a spirit that will touch your heart.
In the early 1980s, the Bullhead City/Ft. Mohave Mesa/Laughlin population was just 15,000. Today, we are approaching 100,000 (the entire county's population is over 200,000) with southern Californians selling their high–priced homes for our better values, new neighbors escaping the massive congestion and big city traffic issues in Phoenix and Las Vegas, and retirees throughout North America buying where they regularly vacationed. Others "discover" Western Arizona for our warm winters, outdoor recreation, and nearby gaming.

Where exactly is Mohave County?
With one of the most unusual geographies in the United States, and by land size the 5th largest county in America, we are "Arizona's West Coast," but we are known locally as the "Tri-State" region because we border Nevada and California and our communities are really "one."
*The area of principal focus for this presentation is one community consisting of Bullhead City, Fort Mohave, the Mohave Valley, Laughlin, Nevada, and Needles, California; are all within 30 minutes of each other. Surrounding cities include Kingman, our County seat, which is north in the higher elevations, Oatman, our charming mining town from days gone by, and Lake Havasu City, to our south – all which are touched upon below.
We're a county of compelling contrasts. We offer the Hualapai Mountains (pronounced "walla pie") of 8,000 feet peaks with snow capped winters, camping, hiking, to near 0 elevation desert lands for motor biking and discovering. We're dry with little annual rainfall but offer year–round unlimited water sports, from kayak river tours to boating on Lake Mohave. And while we offer Las Vegas–style casinos, sports books, day spas, and entertainment across the river in Laughlin, NV, here in the Mohave Valley we play with our families in parks, cheer our state champion high school sports teams, and meet close friends and neighbors at community–sponsored festivals and concerts.
The Davis Dam

Although our valley was inhabited by Native Americans for hundreds of years, it wasn't until the construction of the Davis Dam on the Colorado River in the 1950s that our region began to grow. Davis Dam manages energy and power for the Tri–State and Southern California, along with better controlling the supply of water to farmers down river – we have lush and fertile farmland here.
In Mohave County we celebrate our past and the history of Indian culture woven into our area. We have friends from all over the world as our neighbors, who add different perspectives and points of view that broaden us as individuals. We really love our community – and you'll be able to tell. And we're making room for you!
- Western Arizona is becoming the "garden spot" of the southwest, and Mohave County is being called by many "the next Palm Springs."
- Like Palm Springs or Las Vegas, we are in the desert, where it can be hot in summer, but here we can enjoy Lake Mohave and the Colorado River, or to go up to our northern elevations in Mohave County, where we go hiking and camping in the higher elevations near Kingman – where it's cool during summer nights. Now that's relief from the heat!
- We have two private airstrips within minutes of the hospital and we’re a one hour flight to snow skiing in Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona, AZ!
- In many small towns in America, you have to know someone or have family in the area for generations in order to have influence – not here! Because we are a newer community with friends and neighbors from around the world, we have a "pioneer spirit" where you aren't limited by "small town politics."
- Our location is compelling for business: Mohave County offers a "last depot stop" for corporations who desire a shipping/inventory/manufacturing hub along I–40 before entering the California market.
- Access to large metro areas is very reasonable: Los Angeles and Phoenix are under 4 hours, and Las Vegas – the shopping and entertainment Mecca of the world, is 90 minutes away.
- Our community does not yet have certain high–end amenities such as Mercedes dealerships or a Neiman Marcus department store. For the most elite clothing, jewelry, and high–end shopping, we make it a "day trip" around lunch or dinner to Las Vegas! However, "big-box" retailers such as Home Depot and Target, and high–end restaurants and country clubs, are here.
- Even if you work the night shift, the casinos here offer 24–hour services – one can "play all day."
- Convenience is a key word here: No traffic congestion, no long–lines at the grocery, no need to make golf tee–times a week in advance, no hour–long waits at the boat ramp. But we are a community on the "upswing" that has new growth and buildings all around us – it's an ideal time to make us your home.
- Because we've been described by some as a "teenager" in our area's evolution, entrepreneurial medical professionals have a "ground floor opportunity" to grow an amazing career.

Communities in our Region: Laughlin, Kingman, Oatman, Las Vegas, and Lake Havasu City – amazing communities that add incredible diversity and fun to living in Mohave County.

Gaming, entertainment, and fine dining under 5 miles from Valley View's service area
A gaming playground awaits friends, families, and global tourists. Just across the Colorado River, Laughlin is a wonderful place to play and for Vegas–style entertainment and fun. (Meet Brendan Talley, Director of Hotel Operations, Harrah's)

When it's 90 degrees in Fort Mohave it's 65 degrees here
Our County Seat, and up to 8,000' elevations, offer a unique contrast to our life in the Mohave Valley Mesa. Cool summer nights, snow in winter, camping in the mountains, a rustic resort, and plentiful wildlife, from mule deer to elk – it's fabulous to have this amazing addition to living here. (In this section, meet Wade Stephens, Museum, Robert Lawless, Courthouse, and Ron Kutil, Hualapai Resort)

An historic mining town, wild burros in the streets, and a man doing a great thing for kids
A charming former gold–mining town that is a "must see," fun–filled tourist spot in a remote part of Mohave County. Wild burros in the streets to unique crafts, the famous high–noon gunfight, and a trip to a real gold mine, are part of a fun–filled day in Oatman. (Meet Rod Hall, "Outlaw Willie," and his generous spirit that helps underprivileged kids)

The charming city in far south Mohave County known for the London Bridge
Our southern neighbor is currently the largest city in Mohave County, but we are growing faster. It is also a vacation and Spring Break spot for many southern Californians and southwesterners. The famous London Bridge was brought over, and then reassembled here. There are upscale shops with wine–tastings, a microbrewery, a marina, golf, and more here. (Meet Lisa Kruger, Chamber of Commerce President, and Gary Kellogg, CEO, Partnership for Economic Development)

A small town on Historic Route 66 and I–40 and the "Gateway to California"
We're known as the "Tri-State" region due to the confluence of states lines of California, Nevada, and Arizona. In fact, Needles is just across the Colorado River. The "Needles Bridge" in Valley View's southern service area crosses the Colorado River, and there is a scenic "back way drive" to the casinos of Laughlin through the desert and the Mohave Indian Reservation, as well as access to Interstate 40 on the way to Lake Havasu City. Today, Needles is a very small town that is economically challenged due to the high costs and taxation of California vs. Arizona and Nevada.
Summary
Valley View Medical Center is located in unincorporated Fort Mohave in the Mohave Mesa, bordering Bullhead City and the Bullhead Parkway's southern exit, at Mohave Community College. This places us under 5 minutes to Laughlin's Casino Drive, and 30 minutes to Kingman. Needles and Oatman are also about 30 minutes from us – Oatman to our east and Needles is south.

About 90 minutes to the 'Vegas Strip and its International Airport
Las Vegas is globally known for having world class entertainment, the most exclusive shopping, and the famous "Las Vegas Strip." We think its location from us is just right – 90 minutes. That’s close enough to go to a show or for a shopping trip for the afternoon, and an easy drive to McCarran International Airport to pick up your visiting friends and family, who envy your life here in our little paradise!
Directions – How to get here from any direction
