The Mohave County Administration Building, Kingman, and the Mohave Schools Superintendent's Office

Mohave County has 15 public school districts that include 52 public schools and 25,000 students. As one of the largest counties geographically in the US at 14,000 square miles, the schools are principally sequestered in our 3 largest cities, Kingman, the County seat, Lake Havasu City, and our Bullhead City/Mohave Valley/Ft. Mohave area. One School in Mohave County Services a Native American reservation.

  • 3 districts encompass the service area of Valley View Medical Center and our presentation features schools from these districts. The high school sizes range from 1A to 5A.

The high schools in VVMC's service area: Mohave High (in Bullhead City) is 4A, and River Valley High School, in Mohave Valley, is approximately 500 students smaller and 3A (both featured below). The largest high school in the County is in Kingman, a 5A high school.

  • Both Mohave High and River Valley High School offer approximately 20 AP classes, as well as dual-enrollment courses which allow students to earn college credit prior to graduation (classes offered at MCC and at school).

School Options in our area: There are Charter schools, like K-8 Young Scholars Academy, featured in this presentation. Our service area has 2 Montessori schools. Currently there are no religious schools, nor a K-12 private school in Valley View Medical Center’s service area.

  • MCC offers a freshman and sophomore "seamless transfer" program to Arizona's 4-year state universities
  • MCC offers a RN program in nursing, which can transfer to an on-site BSN program by NAU

4-Year State Colleges: Northern Arizona University, based in Flagstaff 3 hours away, offers courses at Mohave Community College. The University of Nevada-Las Vegas is 90 miles north of us. The University of Arizona is in Tucson and Arizona State University is in Tempe. NAU's local degree programs

"Our student achievement is clearly better than the California public schools, from which many families are moving to Mohave County. Kids who move here are generally 1/2 to a year behind." Superintendent File

High Schools & Principals:

"I invite any family considering Valley View Medical Center to take a look at our school district from our
teachers and facilities, to the students we graduate. You can feel very confident that
your children will get a well-rounded education here."
